Dumpster Diving Adventures: Managing Clutter in an ADHD Household

Keeping an ADHD household clutter-free is often a daunting task, especially with a spouse who has a penchant for dumpster diving. Our community's spring and fall cleaning events are a lifesaver, providing a structured opportunity to purge items we no longer need. These clean-up days act as a crucial forcing function, encouraging my spouse to part with things he doesn't use. However, our adventures don't end there—he occasionally brings home a few unexpected finds, like a Santa Claus decoration or a set of golf clubs, from his dumpster explorations.

If your neighborhood lacks community clean-ups, don’t worry—many garbage companies offer bulk item pickups for large or broken items if you schedule it in advance. This can be an effective alternative to keep your home organized.
