When my ADHD spouse took on the responsibility of handling all home repairs, I did question how it would work out. The truth is, he really stepped up to this commitment. There have been multiple times when I’ve shared a few home repair tasks that needed attention, and he actually took care of them without me needing to repeat the request.
That said, not all home repairs are equal. Here are a couple of observations on why he might prioritize one repair over another:
Does he pass by the problem often?
Does the problem bother him?
If the answer to both questions is yes, he’ll usually take care of the repair on his own. Of course, if it’s a more urgent repair, I make sure to explain the reason for the urgency and provide a time frame so he understands why it needs to be addressed within 24 hours.
