As the holidays approach, I can’t help but reflect on the journey my ADHD spouse and I have shared over the years. Navigating an ADHD marriage has been full of challenges, lessons, and growth. Through it all, we’ve discovered that the best gifts aren’t just thoughtful—they’re ones that make life a little easier, strengthen our bond, and help us thrive together.
That’s why I look forward to sharing this year's gift list with you. It’s a collection of things we have tried out this year that we’ve found helpful, inspiring, or just plain fun in our own relationship. Whether you’re shopping for your partner or yourself, I hope this list helps you find something meaningful that sparks connection and joy this holiday season and beyond.
Let’s dive into the 2024 list!
Gift No 1: Amazon Echo Pop
Cost: $39.99+
Black Friday Discount 55% off
Voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are excellent tools for ADHD couples. After using both systems in 2024, he prefers Amazon Echo Pop with Alexa. Echo + Alexa helped us with minimizing the parent-child dynamic in our relationship, making us a happier couple. How? Echo + Alexa really help me minimize my nagging and help my ADHD partner feel in control. Each time when one realized a reminder needs to be set for my ADHD partner, like picking up his medications, calling the doctors or start time on a task he needs to do, he now automatically asks Alexa to set the reminders and the frequencies of the reminders for him. He enjoys the feeling of being in control and I "so" enjoy when Alexa announced the reminder because I am no longer the constant reminder of my ADHD partner. Furthermore, Alexa has a variety of capabilities, like use it as a timer, set specific routines that truly support my partner's executive function when he needs a little help. Check out this Amazon blog article of the different use case with Amazon Alexa. It's really a win-win.
